Marie-Eve & Alexandre’s Garage in Longueuil
Garage Makeovers
The owners of this single and a half garage wished a complete makeover to accommodate the needs of their small family. Their kids were getting older and it was more and more important to maximize the existing space, so it better accommodates their daily and seasonal family needs.
The project involved designing a space with different zones. A workbench zone made of Duralum custom furniture featuring stainless-steel handles, a solid colored beech countertop with a built-in stainless-steel sink and faucet, adjustable aluminum legs, and LED lighting. Completing the zone is a backsplash made of PVC panels for the more frequently used small tools. Next, a mud bench zone was designed, also made with Duralum custom furniture. This gives the kids a dedicated place to store shoes, helmets, skates, etc., as well as hang their clothes and other items on an organizing wall surface made of PVC panels. A pair of checkerplate aluminum corners were installed to protect the wall in the main entrance from the kid’s enthusiasm as they enter and exit the house. A storage zone, opposite the workbench, features four large Duralum storage cabinets to provide ample space for a variety of items, as requested by the owners. There is even room on the top for oversized items.

A seasonal items zone includes a steel overhead storage rack right above the staircase leading to the basement. This is combined with a large wall organizing surface made of PVC panels for the long handle tools and other items. A tire/bike zone, at the front of the garage where the kid’s mud bench is located, is where existing tire racks are installed alongside racks for bikes, toys, and other cleaning tools. And finally, a floor/staircase zone where a polyaspartic covering creates an attractive, cohesive look to the garage and provides a durable, easy to clean surface for the garage floor as well as the two staircases leading inside the house and the basement.
