Jocelyn’s Garage in St-Lazare
The owners of this double garage, just about to become parents for the first time, wanted a complete makeover to add practical amenities, additional storage capability and increased comfort to accommodate their growing family.
The project involved rethinking and reconfiguring the existing heating system by replacing the traditional baseboard heaters with a more efficient space heater located above the window on the back wall. This allowed us to use the base of the back and right walls for better organizing options while working around both existing windows. The back wall was then outfitted with Duralum custom furniture combining a large workbench, with its solid colored beech countertop, crowning a series of base cabinets. These cabinets came with either drawers or adjustable shelves behind closed doors. In addition, a large cabinet to the left of the workbench and a series of open boxes to the right gave easy accessibility to the plastic storage bins and other items. The wall on the right side features a large PVC panel surface with steel accessories, matching the wall above the workbench. These PVC panels offer lots of practical wall organization options for the equipment typically found in a garage.
A central vacuum unit was integrated into another PVC panel surface which also will accommodate future bikes. The wall also features a mud bench zone to the right of the main entrance with custom fabricated Duralum open storage boxes for hats, gloves, mittens, etc., and a storage module for shoes and boots. Perfect for the in and out traffic between the house and garage. Here as well, the left-hand side wall was adorned with a PVC panel surface and steel accessories to meet the current, and future needs of this new young family. Finally, a garage makeover would not be complete without an attractive, durable, and easy to clean polyaspartic floor covering which also protects the entrance step and cement baseboards. Not only practical, it gives the makeover a stylish, cohesive look.
